I have just finished reading my review copy of 'Angelology' and must admit to feeling a little underwhelmed by it all. I started the book with fairly high hopes (The glossy cover! The intriguing blurb on the inside cover!) but as it careered towards its extremely inevitable and predictable conclusion, I found myself skimming through, just to get to the end (I hate leaving books unfinished).
As other reviewers have mentioned, there is more than a nod to the oeuvre of Dan Brown, although Ms Trussoni should be congratulated on possessing a much less wooden and clunking style of prose. I found the twists in the plots to be heavily signposted and more than once found myself getting rather annoyed with the characters for being so slow on the uptake. In my opinion, the best part was the middle section, where we travel back in time and the background story is gradually revealed.
I am a big fan of historical/conspiracy/thriller-type books, but I'm afraid this one just didn't do it for me.
